We view management’s earnings guidance as being on the conservative side and expect reported results to be at the high end of their guidance range.

We are expecting solid second quarter results out of Chevron driven primarily by significantly higher oil prices in the quarter.

The rising price of oil along with better than expected quarterly results out of Occidental Petroleum and Noble Corp all point to a stronger than expected quarter for Exxon.

Wall Street has reduced their expectations for 2009 in the wake of lower oil prices, but we feel that they may still be too optimistic.

Although the company is notoriously unhelpful in providing performance guidance, we expect that Exxon Mobil’s conservative business approach will allow it to deliver better than expected first quarter results.
